Pop Art Final Presentations- Wednesday 6/12

Pop Art Final

Choose any artist from the Pop Art movement with the exception of Andy Warchol and Keith Haring. (artist must be approved by Mr Purcell before beginning.) Write a 2 full page double spaced paper with 12 point type and a works cited page along with a full color 9 x 12 (or bigger) painting that represents your artist's best known work without duplicating a specific piece by focusing on subject matter, color pallette and any distinctive traits you can identify.  When choosing an artist look specifically for the Pop Art movement, not "pop art".  You will find many artists who copy the "style" of this movement but were not part of it.

EXPLORE THE FOLLOWING: WHERE WAS THE ARTIST BORN AND BASIC BIOGRAPHICAL  INFORMATION. WHAT KIND OF TRAINING DID THEY HAVE? WHAT WERE THEY BEST KNOWN FOR? WHAT KIND OF SCALE DID THEY WORK WITH? WAS THERE ANY SPECIFIC EVENT IN THEIR CAREER THAT WAS IMPORTANT OR PIVOTAL?
Please have your paper printed ahead of time and be in class before the bell rings ready to present.  Be ready to present when the bell rings and please do not be late or you will lose your presentation spot which count for 10% of this final grade.

Final project counts as 20% of your final grade so please make sure you know your material (including knowing how to correctly prounce your artist's name) as you will be asked questions.  Your presentation of the content counts for 10% of your grade, so have your art and paper printed, give a synopsis of your paper or read the paper from your seat, whichever you feel will be most effective.
