Design Final- Seniors

DESIGN final


 RESEARCH AND FIND A FASHION DESIGNER THAT INTERESTS YOU AND WRITE A TWO PAGE DOUBLE SPACED PAPER ON THEIR LIFE AND CAREER. (in addition to a works cited page) Investigate their background and training as well as the significant aspects of their career. What is this artist best known for? What are the distinctive traits of their work? What kind of materials do they tend to use? What genre? (athletic wear, formal wear...)

CREATE AN OUTFIT CONSISTING OF 4 ITEMS (hair ties don't count) THAT UTILIZE THE ELEMENTS AND PRINCIPLES OF DESIGN  (BALANCE, EMPHASIS, RHYTHM ETC...)
Your finished work will be a full color (medium or media of your choice), full figure wearing all four items. ALL ELEMENTS AND PRINCIPLES will be identified on the back, AS WELL AS THE TYPE(S) OF FABRIC(S) YOU CHOOSE. (please include references you used in the creation of your piece)

Presentations will take place Thursday May 28th during finals for B block

ART 50%
PAPER 40%
PRESENTATION  10%

Presentations must be ready when the bell rings for class.  NO late (5 seconds, 5 minutes etc...) presentations will be accepted, be on time and ready to go.  Emailed papers will not be accepted.  Write and print your papers ahead of time so that printers do not run out of ink, print slowly,  fail to work etc...  If you wait until the last minute, issues could arise so prepare ahead of time please.


VOCABULARY

Dart- triangular folds of fabric stitched to a point. They control fullness and give shape to fitted clothing.

Tuck- narow folds of fabric that may be stitched part way or the entire length.

Seam- can create special effects, or a sporty, tailored, or contrasting finish to a garment.

Gather- soft folds of fabric formed by pulling up basting stitches to make the fabric fit into a smaller space.

Pleat- folds of fabric, wider than tucks and stitched or pressed in place.
