Ceramics final

2 page paper about an artist of your choice who works in 3D. Paper is double spaced, listing all sources. Research the artist’s background and their body of work. What are they known for, their training, what medium do they work in, what are their influences…? Please bring in at least one full color image of their work to show the class so everyone leaves learning something about each student’s subject. No plagiarism of any kind.
Please be ready to present when the bell rings.  No emailed or late papers will be accepted.  Please get your work done ahead of time to avoid printers running out of ink, not working etc...
Final project counts as 20% of your grade so please make sure you know your material as you will be asked questions.

Foundations Final Presentation- Seniors

FOUNDATIONS FINAL PROJECT FINAL PROJECTS WILL BE PRESENTED DURING THE EXAM BLOCK ( WEDNESDAY MAY 27). WRITE A 2 PAGE (OR MORE) DOUBLE SPACED PAPER ON AN ARTIST OF YOUR CHOICE. THE ARTIST MUST BE APPROVED BY MR. P BEFORE YOU BEGIN. THE ARTIST CAN BE FROM ANY ERA AND WORK WITH ANY MEDIUM AS LONG AS THEY HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE ART WORLD IN A SIGNIFICANT WAY. (PLEASE AVOID WRITING A PAPER ABOUT AN UNCLE WHO LIKES TO PAINT ETC…) YOUR PAPER SHOULD EXPLAIN THE ART MOVEMENT(S)/PERIOD THE ARTIST WAS INVOLVED IN, THEIR BACKGROUND/HISTORY AND TRAINING, AND WHAT MAKES THEIR WORK SIGNIFICANT IN THE ART WORLD. DISCUSS WHY YOU CHOSE THIS ARTIST AND FIND OUT ABOUT THEIR CREATIVE PROCESS; WHAT SIZE WAS THEIR WORK, HOW DID THEY GO ABOUT CREATING THEIR WORK, WHAT KIND OF SUBJECTS DID HE OR SHE WORK WITH? PLEASE INCLUDE A WORKS CITED PAGE.
PART TWO IS TO ACCOMPANY YOUR PAPER WITH A FULL COLOR WATERCOLOR PORTRAIT OF YOUR ARTIST. UTILIZE THE FOUR TECHNIQUES THAT WE LEARNED IN CLASS. (WET ON WET, WET ON DRY, DRY ON DRY AND DRY ON WET) IF YOUR ARTIST IS FROM A LONG AGO ERA AND BLACK AND WHITE IMAGES ARE ALL YOU CAN FIND, PLEASE USE YOUR CREATIVITY TO BRING FULL COLOR TO THIS INDIVIDUAL.

Drawing and Painting Self-portrait final-SENIORS

Self-Portrait

FINAL PROJECTS WILL BE PRESENTED DURING THE EXAM BLOCK . (Wednesday May 27th)

Write a 2 page double spaced paper on an artist of your choice. Please include a works cited page as well. Your artist must be approved by Mr. P before you begin. The artist must be one who created/creates self-portraits and can be from any era and work with any painting medium (pastels, oils, acrylics…) as long as they have contributed to the art world in a significant way. (Please avoid writing a paper about an uncle who likes to paint etc…)
There are many qualities you could choose to focus on such as how subject matter is presented, scale, medium, color choices/use of color, time eras, stylistic choices, meaning/intent… Analyze what the artist is trying to accomplish and how they do so. (for instance, why did Monet use the colors he did?) There are very specific reasons for this which would require research and understanding of the artists’ work.

Part two of this project is to create a full color 9 x 12 self-portrait that is both a likeness of yourself in some way and that represents the artist’s stylistic approach. Do not replicate a piece, but create your own based on the artist’s body of work. The medium is up to you.

Presentations during the exam block will be brief but should present to the class as though no one has any prior knowledge of the artists. You do not have to read the paper but give a well thought through synopsis along with the image. You will likely be asked some basic questions as well so make sure you know your topic. This project counts for 20% of your grade!

Please be sure not to plagiarize in any way as it will result in a zero!! Please be careful not to cut and paste or re-word from any web site or book.  NO late presentations will be accepted.  Papers must be printed out ahead of time and ready to present with artwork when the bell rings.  Waiting until the last minute often results in printers that run out of ink, work slowly or not at all.  Emailed papers will not be accepted so please be prepared.
