Design -answer the following in a comment

If you were designing a logo for yourself and you want the viewer to feel calm and serenity what color would you use and why?

If you want your audience to feel intensity, increase their heart rate and have a visceral response what color would you use and why?

Why does Dunkin' use the two colors in their logo and why do they use the specific style of font?  Explain using information you read about in the blog entries.

  1. 1. The color I would use to make the viewer feel calm and serene, I would choose the color blue. The psychological effect behind the color blue makes people feel calm, safe, and serene.
    2. The color I would use to make the audience feel intense is the color red. The psychological effect behind the color red makes the viewer feel enraged, intense.
    3. They use a specific bubbly type of font to advertise the fact that they mainly sell donuts. The bubbly font represents a circle shape which also informs the audience that they are selling donuts. Dunkin' uses orange and brown in their logo to try and advertise that they are selling food and coffee. Coffee represents the brown color. While the orange represents the food aspect of Dunkin'.

  2. 1. I would use the color blue because cool tones remind people of serenity. Most likely when people think of the color blue, they will think of the water or a clear sky which correlates with the feeling of calmness and serenity.

    2. I would use the color red, because all warm tones have a visceral response, but only red can make a person feel that intensity. Red is an intense color and can remind people of passion, burning, and power.

    3. Dunkin' uses the colors pink and orange to give a feeling of change and movement. Their slogan is "always on the run," which refers to the orange color, correlates together. I believe that they use that specific style of font to mimic logos like nike or starbucks. The bold letters can be read easily, and when the two D's are only shown, everyone knows their meaning.

  3. If I was designing a logo for myself and I wanted the viewer to feel calm and serenity the color choice that would best bring out those feelings of relaxation would be the color blue or yellow.

Darker more intense colors such as red or black would give the impression of something more somber becuase they are toned much darker and psycologically we connect thinks that are more somber with dark and things that are nicer brighter and full of light.

Dunkin uses two colors orange and purple in thier logo and they use that specific font because it is a rounded bubble letter format that gives off a warm greeting tone that welcomes you to their store. It is very comforting and the letters look fun and enjoyable almost telling that you will have a good experiance when you enter and place your order

  4. 1. A color that I would use to feel calm is some colors in the cool tone range. Some colors that could be used are some blue tones, and some light purples. The lighter the color gives more calm and welcoming vibe. Blue also is associated with the oceans, and the ocean is an association with being calm and serenity.

    2. A way to have other people feel intensity and increase of heart rate would be a red. Red is a color that we are all very familar with to have quick responce to like a stop light and a stop sign. Its a very bright color and would keep the person alert. The color red stands out and is visually appealing.

    3. The Dunkin Logo uses two colors because the two colors they use are opposites and they both contrast with eachother very well. The color orange is energetic which could be referenced to the coffee. They use specific type of font so its very clear and easy to remember and to make it easily remembered.

  5. I would use beige because, it is a warm color and its not bright or bold.

I would use red because, it is a very vibrant color.

The colors pare well together and are bold but there not to in your face kind of bold. The two colors are warm colors which can be reminded on to a warm cup of coffee.
