Design final

Students will be exploring architectural design through the aesthetics of Frank Lloyd Wright's work.  Review the book, Frank Lloyd Wright A Gatefold Portfolio and focus on the homes he built.
You are being given an unlimited budget to create a home in South Deerfield utilizing the qualities of FLW's work.  Create a general floorplan on 9 x 12 white paper using a ruler and any other technical tools necessary to create a clean general idea of the interior space. (examples below)

Using two point perspective, create a full color rendering of the outside.  The finished product can be colored with either copics, watercolor or mixed media.

Part 2: Write a 2 page double spaced, 12 point font paper with an additional works cited page describing to your client 12 different ways that you have incorporated elements of FLW's work into their home.  Choose specifics, not opinions, but factual elements and the way they are utilized in his spaces.  An example would be the placement of a fireplace which could be in the center of the house, symbolizing warmth and the heart of the space.
Please be on time (not two seconds after the bell, two minutes, two hours...) and ready to present when the bell rings.  Have papers printed ahead of time, not last minute in the LMC.  No late work or emailed papers will be accepted.  Know your subject as you will be asked questions regarding your justification for your design choices which will impact your grade.

Ceramics final

2 page paper (double spaced and 12 point type with an additional works cited page) about an artist of your choice who works in any 3D medium. ( Do not serach 3D artists and choose an artist who does 2D art that looks 3D)  Artist must be approved by Mr. P before beginning. Paper is double spaced, listing all sources. Research the artist’s background and their body of work. What are they known for and why?  Explain what kind of  training they had, what medium(s) do they work in? What are their influences and why? Please bring in at least one printed full color image of their work to show the class so everyone leaves learning something about each student’s subject. No plagiarism of any kind as it will count as a zero.
Please be ready to present when the bell rings. (not two seconds, two minutes after the bell etc...)  Please do not wait until the last minute printing work out as you will surrender your spot to present and lose 10 points off your grade that you would earn for the presentation.  No emailed or late papers will be accepted.  Please get your work done ahead of time to avoid printers running out of ink, not working, dogs alleviating their hunger etc...
Final project counts as 20% of your grade so please make sure you know your material (including knowing how to correctly prounce your artist's name) as you will be asked questions.

Foundations final

final projects will be presented during the exam block.

Write (and type) a 2 page (or more) 12 point font, double spaced paper on an artist of your choice. The artist must be approved by mr. P before you begin. (do not chose artists like Van Gogh and Picasso that you already know.  Think about the kind of work you like and choose someone you connect with.  For example, if you like video games, find an artist who works in that industry.  We can use artists who are alive and social media can be a great tool to reach out an ask the artist him/herself questions)  If you can not find three different and substantial resources about your artist please find a different one. The artist can be from any era and work with any medium as long as they have contributed to the art world in a significant way. (please avoid writing a paper about an uncle who likes to paint etc…)

Your paper should explain the art movement(s)/period the artist was involved in, their background/history and training, and what makes their work significant in the art world. Discuss why you chose this artist and find out about their creative process; what size was their work, how did they go about creating their work, what kind of subjects did he or she work with? Please include a works cited page.

Part two of this project is to create  a 9 x 12 or bigger painting (watercolor or acrylic) of your artist which accomplishes two objectives:
1)  an accurate likeness of your artist and 2) a strong demonstration of what their work looks like which should include as many elements of what exemplifies their work.  You may choose to focus on brushstrokes, color pallet, composition etc...

Presentations will be brief but please present to the class as though no one has any prior knowledge of the artist. You do not have to read the paper but give a well thought through synopsis along with the image. (it will be helpful to write an outline) You will likely be asked some basic questions as well so make sure you know your topic. (including knowing how to pronounce your artist's name.)

Do not plagiarize in any way as it will result in a zero.
Be accountable and be on time, (meaning before the bell rings, not two seconds, minutes or hours after)  Papers need to be ready to hand in at the time of presentation.  Late papers (or emailed papers) will not be accepted.
