Students will discover Peruvian work in the Moche culture from 100-800 AD and the organic nature of the work which were often used as musical instruments. Students will be introduced to using molds to create a variety of handles that they will attach to their work to represent trademark aesthetic choices of this culture.
Objectives:
At least one piece will use white clay and a monochromatic palette of reds.
Incorporate 2 principles of art; rhythm and pattern into each piece beginning with sketches.
Utilize the handle molds in at least one of the three pieces.

1) Goddesses/Gods/Shamans with coils/handles integrated into the design
2) Musical instruments integrating elements of animal anatomy and coils/handles

my plan for this project is.. 1.) make a fish with a handle on top to look like a pipe made for music back in this culture and time. 2.) make the body of a god or goddess similar to the venus figurines project but with more characteristics that accompany this project. 3.) for my last piece i would like to do another animal figurine to also incorporate the musical aspect of this project.

ReplyDeleteFor this project i will do two god/goddess themed figurines. My third figurine will be animal themed. The god figurine will use handles and will use monochromatic. The Goddess figurine will also implement handles, but will include a color mix. The animal figure will most likely be a fish, or bear, and represent a musical instrument. The animal figurine will likely posses some form of handle also.
